Open Instagram → Automations. Use the rule’s status switch to pause it, or open the rule to change its settings.
Pausing keeps the rule so you can use it again. It does not remove messages already sent to Instagram.
Pause one rule
- Find the automation in the list. Check its post and name.
- Turn its status switch off. The control is labelled Pause automation when the rule is live.
- Check that the status changes to Paused.
Use this when a product sells out, a link needs a change, or you want to stop new replies from that rule.
This pauses one automation. Disable on the Instagram connection page affects the whole channel. They are different controls.
Edit the reply
- Open the automation by its name or Edit automation control.
- Check the selected post and keyword.
- Update the main message, link, or file you need to change.
- Review any opening, follow, or email steps.
- Set Go live to the state you want. Leave it off if the rule should stay paused.
- Choose Save changes.
For a button URL, follow Add a link button. For a file, follow Send an image or PDF.
If you want to stop new replies while making changes, pause the rule before editing it. A saved change cannot take back an old DM.
Turn it back on and test
- When the settings are ready, turn the status switch on in the list. The control is labelled Activate automation for a paused rule.
- Check that the status shows Live.
- Test with another Instagram account.
- Open the received link or file. Check that it is the new version.
If activation is blocked, read the warning. Your plan’s active-rule limit or account status may need attention. Check runs and usage and your current plan.
Pause or delete?
- Pause: keep the rule for later.
- Edit: change the saved settings.
- Delete: use the separate delete control when you intend to remove a rule. It is not needed for a quick pause.
